out with the old…
today was youth office cleaning day. I met up with Lindsay at the seminary campus, one of my two co-workers for next year, and we headed over to the church together. we decided today would be youth office cleaning day. this youth office was like most youth offices… a quagmire of trash including retreat pamplets from 10 years ago, old youth group shirts, various work orders from 1995, and m&m’s scattered throughout various places in the room. We moved all the furniture around the room to clean out the middle and make a common “meeting area” of couches. we found for ouselves some interesting things, including about 25 lbs of lollypops, standard cheezy christian sampler cd’s, a clock underneath a couch, and various other entities. the day was very symbolic of the direction of the program. we have all new faces around the office, none have worked over one year at peachtree and none are over 23 years old. it is quite a unique situation, fresh as can be. hopefully this symbolizes the direction of the youth ministry, fresh and young, open to anything, staring off with joy and wonder at what can happen. i get more excited after every blog entry about the possibilities.
