There aren’t a lot of great things about the long drive I have every morning, particularly with gas being so expensive, but I do get to enjoy morning talk radio for the first time in my life. I am usually fairly entertained by The Bert Show and The 99x Morning Show (even though 99x has declined as of late). This morning, there was a quality story. One of the stations asked people to call in with their breakup stories.
This one girl called in with a story from her freshman year of college. She was sitting down in December to take her first final exam. She’s working away and looks up to find her boyfriend in the window, waving his arms. He is beckoning her to come to the door. She looks up at her professor, who had noticed the arm-waving man as well, and he gives her a head nod of permission to go outside and deal with the situation.
She goes outside expecting some form of an emergency situation. Maybe someone is in the hospital. Maybe he won the lottery… who knows? She gets outside to him and he says, “So, I’ve got some news for you. I just got engaged and I’m heading down to Savannah. Can you pop your trunk so I can throw your stuff in the back?” Dumbfounded and pissed off, she does oblige and opens her trunk. His truck is parked nearby and he comes walking over with a couple of Kroger bags full of her stuff. To top it all off, his new fiance is sitting in the front seat of the truck. The breakupee looks up at her and the fiance gives an awkward wave and mouths the words, “I’m sorry” to the girl.
Man. Can you pop your trunk? What an ass. Crazy.
